The origin of stone massage
Hot stone massage has ancient roots: cultures in Asia and the Americas already used heated stones for therapeutic purposes. The modern technique, popularised in the 1990s, combines the warmth of volcanic stones with traditional massage.
How does the heat work?
Hot stones, placed on key points of the back and abdomen and used as massage tools, transmit penetrating warmth that dilates blood vessels, increases blood flow to the area and relaxes the muscles in depth. The heat allows contractures to be worked with much less pressure and much more comfort.
